Here is the list of the next events in which I’m participating in 2013 with different roles: as the founder of the SpagoWorld initiative, as a division director within Engineering Group’s Innovation and Research Department or as the President of OW2 Consortium. Even if I’ll probably not attend all these events, you’ll have the opportunity to meet people working closely with me. They are great events, so I encourage you to come.
Main topics are free and open source software, cloud and big data, quality in software engineering, software validations and measurement.
The list includes some advance information for the second half of 2013.
Solutions Linux in Paris, France
This event has already taken place. I’m keeping it in this list because it was a very successful event. It was held in Paris on 28th – 29 th May. I was at the OW2 village in the expo and the OW2 Conference track as the new OW2 President, supporting the community at this event. In OW2 Village, some Engineering Group’s collaborators were at the SpagoBI booth and in many events of the conference, presenting the new SpagoBI 4 version.
CAST CIO Conference in Milan, Italy
It’s a special event taking place on June 11th where I’ll have the opportunity to share my vision of quality practices in the software Application Lifecycle management. The conference prepares the Software Testing Forum of the next day.
European Summit on the Future Internet in Aveiro, Portugal
From 13th to 14th of June I’ll be in Portugal. I’ve been invited to the Big Data and Cloud session. An opportunity to share my vision and present some results of open source activities in these fields.
SpagoBI Road-show, France, Italy, Brazil, Usa
This roadshow aims at presenting the new SpagoBI 4.0 version of the suite and will start in Paris on June 18th. Next stops are Milan and Rome in Italy, Sao Paulo in Brazil and New York in the USA. Dates will be announced soon. Come and join SpagoBI team to discover the new features of the suite. Register to the event in Paris now.
International Conference on Open Source Systems, Koper, Slovenia
On June 27th my keynote talk will focus on open source software and how you can use open solutions to validate and measure your own results. The main topic of this 9th edition of the event is OSS verifications, even though the conference will also present some research results related to open source initiatives. This goes beyond software, also including open innovation, open access, open data, open standards, open education, open science, open cloud, open artworks, open hardware, open government and more.
Forum Internacional Software Livre in Porto Alegre, Brasil
My participation in this event is not confirmed yet, but I’m working to be at FISL with a SpagoBI booth, which is the most significant Free Software community meeting in Latin America, taking place from 3rd to 6th July. It will be an important opportunity to see the new 4.0 version of the suite, to meet an OW2 member and to learn the unique benefits you can get from joining OW2.
Very Large Databases Conference in Riva del Garda, Italy
Taking place in August, namely from 26th to 30th, VLDB conference is a premier annual international forum for data management and database researchers, vendors, practitioners, application developers, and users. The event will be held near Trento – location of a Node of the European ICT Labs – and its program will focus on Open Data and Big Data activities. SpagoBI and Engineering Group sponsor this event and present how SpagoBI extracts value from Big Data through a new information exploration paradigm.
In the meantime, I’m working on the organization of my two favourite events:
Open Opportunity in Isola Polvese, Italy
This event will take place in Italy, Umbria Region, on September 19th and 20th. It’s the third edition of a conference whose aim is drawing people’s attention to those opportunities that support the sustainable growth of business in many fields, coming from knowledge sharing. Location is Isola Polvese (Lake Trasimeno), where free fishermen work in a wonderful natural place. This year the event will be mainly focused on web tourism and promotion of local start-up companies. Many specialized meetings will take place during the conference, including a job meeting (graduates, start-uppers and professionals meeting enterprises), smart school (contributions of students to open source projects), open source community (short OSS stories told by OSS developers), open arts & crafts (promoting goods produced by the people’s creativity on the local territory), States-General of Innovation (the annual meeting of this organization) and a special event sustaining the candidature of Perugia and Assisi as the European Capital of Culture in 2019.
fOSSa Conference in Lille, France
The event will take place from 20th to 22nd November. To present the conference, I’ll just confirm the same words that I used last year: “what marks the difference between fOSSa and other events is the air that you breath there”.
This year topics will include Open education, Open Arts and Open Journalism. The title of my track will be: Eco-Systems, Eco-Trust, Eco-Nomy.
Last but not least, the following events are always in my list:
Open World Forum in Paris, France
From 3rd to 5th October, it offers a lot of networking opportunities and allows to check how the debate on some key topics in open source is going on.
OW2 Conference in Paris, France
From 13th to 14th November, it’s the annual meeting of the OW2 community. It will once again be held at the Orange Labs conference centre in Issy-Les-Moulineaux. Save the date!
To complete the list, I’m in the Program Committee of the following events (my participation is not confirmed yet):
- From June 27th to July 2nd: Big Data 2013 in Santa Clara, CA, USA
- August 30th: Symposium on Data-Driven Process Discovery and Analysis in Riva del Garda, Italy
- December 5th : Workshop on Data-Driven Process Discovery and Analysis (Asian Edition) in Kyoto, Japan.
